The Magazine: DEXPLICIT
Target Readership:
The target readership for Dexplicit magazine is aimed for both male and female 18 year olds and above as it is about music you would find in a club and dance festivals. For example clubs like Gategrashers Birmingham, Raver Baby and H.T.I.D in the sun. Although younger readers (teenagers) find interest in buying this magazine too. Because of the age range, these readers would fall into the socioeconomic groups C1/C2, due to them relying on their parents for finance. Or, they may be able to finance their small luxuries through earning in a part-time/weekend job. The readers of Dexplicit are young interesting people who have a passion for music and are keen on finding out about new styles of interesting music and enjoy dancing.
Form and Style
is a A4 full colour magazine that contains information of festivals and gigs, news of upcoming artists, reviews, interviews, fashions and technology. Covers usually use upcoming DJs that are becoming popular and known for their talent. The image is often a DJ at work at a club or recording. The colours will be interesting and bright, often on a white or black background so they stand out. The magazine will have a catchy title and a cover that will interest the intended audience. The magazine will sell at £2.50, making it affordable and desirable for this age group.
Themes and Typical features
Dexplicit will have many regular features typical to a music magazine. Every issue will include interviews, information on upcoming artists, reviews and fashion items. There will be a strong focus on interviews and upcoming artists and an emphasis on reviews. The magazine will have a strong influence on people encouraging them to produce their own music and attend festivals. Dexplicit will also try to round up any interesting news, including the latest fashion and technology. Articles about how to get jobs in the music industry would be a regular feature in the magazine because of the targeted age range. The tone of articles will be informal and interesting as if talking to a person who knows about this sort of music, the writers will use language familiar to the target audience to make the magazine as useful and interesting as possible.
Protential advertisers
A range of brands and companies will advertise in the magazine each week, particularly those that organize events such as ‘Don’t Stay In’ ‘Sidewinder Events’ and ‘Till late’. Also brands like phone companys, fashion and technology.
Editorial Team
The editorial team for Dexplicit will be made up of experience writers and designers with expertise in music. The team will mostly be made up of men and woman between the ages of 20 and 30, however readers (like new unsigned artists) will also ask to contribute their ideas. The aim of the team is to bring fresh ideas to the target audience whilst also having a wealth of reliable experience.
